Progress

We've been hard at work these last two weekends, along with the help of our parents. Here's a little taste of the fun we've been having:

Getting at some hard to reach places:

Tearing up old carpet...

And all kinds of little tacks, staples, etc.

This is how you work from home when you don't have furniture:

My mom sadly spent countless hours painting trim, only to discover that night that she'd used the wrong paint.

My dad convinced me that painting the ceilings would be a good idea - and I'm glad he did! The new paint up there brightens up the place.

Choosing a green for our kitchen is harder than you might think. Too dark? Too yellow? Too gray? Too bright? Not bright enough?

And there are some really ugly tans out there.
We set up a make-shift paint shop in our garage to take care of oodles of base trim. A ladder can double as a saw horse, right? As can TV tables and the random Japanese metal structure we found in our backyard.

Dad Brown rocking the mini-roller.

Your guys really worked hard! Looks great! Having a home that needs work takes so much time, I just painted (this past weekend) the last room in the house that I had not added my touch to...it was only a 1/2 bath, but now it's officially Carmen-ized :) It only took 4 years. Good luck with everything!

Great progress - I'm sure it feels good to have a little more done each day :) Can't wait to see it complete!

Wow, you all have been busy! I'm glad that you've had so much help. I'm really anxious to see how the rooms all come together. You are going to give a tour, right??? ;-)

I LOVE that first picture of you. HAHA - great capture!

I agree - there are some U-GLY tans out there - great decision to try them out before painting everything. So many people don't do that - it seems.

Laughing at you working - I have images of Jason doing the same thing in Baltimore!

Love the update! I'm feeling your mom's pain about the trim. That happened to my best friend recently when they were painting her son's room. A bunch of us girls came over one evening to help them scrape off the wrong stuff so her hubby could repaint yet again. Ugh!

Everything looks well on its way. Can't wait to see more.
